standing Committees

PUBLIC RELATIONS: The public relations committee shall be responsible for news releases, media coverage, public affairs and all publications of the Sacramento Association.

EDUCATION: The education committee shall be responsible for soliciting, applicants for student scholarship awards through the Association. Also, the committee will maintain close communication with Schools of Social Work to keep abreast of current trends in recruitment and enrollment of Black students throughout the Association.

FINANCE: The finance committee shall be responsible for preparation of the proposed annual budget for the Association, for recommendations regarding budgetary adjustments and such other financial matters as may come before the Association, including fundraising activities.

MEMBERSHIP: The membership committee shall be responsible for maintaining the Association membership rosters. The committee shall also be responsible for soliciting nominees for special awards from  the Associaton, provide criteria and ballot nominations, in a timely matter and make final selection of winners for presentation of awards at the Annual Appreciation Event.

  • As a Black social worker, I commit myself to the interests of my Black people and subscribe to the following statements:
  •  I regard, as my primary obligation, the welfare of the Black individual, family and community and will engage in action for improving social conditions.
  •   I give precedence to this mission over my personal interest.
  •   I hold myself responsible for the quality and extent of services performed by the agency or organization by which I am employed, as they relate to the black community.  
  •   I accept the responsibility to protect the Black community against unethical and hypocritical practice by any individual or organization engaged in social welfare activities.
  •   I stand ready to supplement my paid or professional advocacy with voluntary services in the Black public interest. 
  •   I will use my skills as an instrument for social change, with attention to the established Black social institutions.
